Ahead of Bengal Polls 2021: Trouble mounts for Mamata as more leaders resign from TMC, Suvendu Adhikari complains about TMC party

KOLKATA 19 DEC: In the face of severe criticism from the Trinamool Congress that did result in the desertion by several MLAs and functionaries including, Suvendu Adhikari  TMC on Saturday said that no one from  Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s family was keen on becoming the next chief minister of the state.

Kalyan Banerjee, party MP, said, “We want to tell everybody that none from the family of chief minister Mamata Banerjee has any desire to become the next chief minister.“

On Saturday, at a rally attended by Amit Shah at East Midnapore College ground, Suvendu Adhikari along with six other TMC MLAs and other functionaries, joined the BJP. Also, there Adhikari raised the slogan that the Raj of the extortionist nephew should come to an end, now.

A total of nine MLAs, including three from Left, and six from TMC, an MP and ex-MP joined BJP on Saturday. Apart from MPs and MLAs, around a dozen TMC leaders from several districts of West Bengal, joined BJP on Saturday.

“Go back, extortionist nephew. (Tolabaaj Bhaipo Hatao),” added Adhikari.

Further, Adhikari said, “Trinamool Congress humiliated me. Those who humiliated me are calling me a back-stabber. Mamata Banerjee is nobody’s mother. He knows his mother, whose name is Gayatri Adhikari. And there is another mother i.e Bharat Mata. TMC will loose the 2021 election.”

According to Adhikari, he feels, that in both the Center and the state, there should be one government and an economic condition of the state, is in a very bad state and its reins need to be handed over to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Adhikari continued his fierce attack on Abhishek Banerjee and said that from tomorrow onwards, he will start his work and he will assure that in each and every block, BJP ‘s cadres reaches the people.

“I am a primary member of the party. I will do whatever the party asks me to do. If I have to paste leaflets, I will do that. If I need to visit on a door to door campaign, I will do that,” added Adhikari.

Adhikari’s letter to TMC workers: Few hours before joining BJP

Just before Adhikari joined the BJP, he did write a letter addressing to TMC party workers. In the letter, he mentioned that the party was not built in one day. Especially, with the contribution of a single person. It is therefore especially painful, that the individuals currently in charge of the party are treating it as their personal fiefdom. The very people on the backs of whom the party was created are now being sidelined, humiliated and outcast.

Speaking out against poll strategist Prashant Kishor, Suvendu said TMC has hired external agencies who have “no knowledge of ground realities”.

“Individuals who will take monetary compensation for their services and will disappear as soon as the elections conclude,” Suvendu Adhikari wrote.

Continuing his tirade against Abhishek Banerjee, Suvendu Adhikari said, “Instead of focusing on the all-round development of the state and the country, we are now seeing a situation in which the sole agenda is the enrichment of few particular individuals and their families, in TMC and this needs to be stopped.

“Political murders are continuing unabated. Illegal activities are continuing without a pause. The sole objective of the party our people elected has now become to mislead, oppress, threaten and loot, all while claiming to be defending the Constitution,” the former TMC strongman from East Midnapore writes in his letter.

According to TMC party sources, the TMC leaders who left the party and joined BJP accused Abhishek Banerjee of wielding his influence inside the party.

Amit Shah’s challenge to Mamata: By the time, West Bengal goes to polls, all of them will desert her and she will only be alone in the party

On Saturday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah did challenge chief minister Mamata Banerjee saying that by the time elections will be declared in Bengal, she will have to face BJP all by herself as all the other leaders will desert her.

“I am challenging you that BJP will form the government in West Bengal in 2021 Assembly election and they will get more than 200 seats,” added Shah.

In reply to Shah’s statement, Banerjee said, “We are also challenging BJP that we will form the government in Bengal in the next Assembly election. And we will ensure that chief minister Mamata Banerjee comes to power for the third time.”

Shah also targeted other TMC leaders and said, “Several TMC leaders said that in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, BJP will not be able to win a single seat from Bengal but we won in 18 seats across Bengal. When the results of the 2021 legislative assembly elections are out, chief minister Mamata Banerjee can see for herself that BJP will form the government by winning more than 200 seats.”

“You promised development in Bengal. There has been no development in the state. And the amount of money, the prime minister sent for developmental schemes has been used to fill the pockets of anti-social elements,” Shah further added.

According to Shah, Mamata Banerjee does maintain that BJP forces other politicians to switch sides. “I want to ask the chief minister, if she remembers correctly, she was also a member of the Congress party, before she formed TMC. Many leaders from Congress, CPI(M) and TMC are joining the party because they believe in the developmental work of the Narendra Modi government,” added Shah.

In reply to Shah’s statement, Banerjee said, “Mamata Banerjee has been forced to leave Congress. And that is why she formed her own party. There is a difference between traitor who did leave the party after taking full advantage of the party. And there is a difference between forming your own party and starting from scratch.”

Political Analysts Opine

According to senior political analysts, today’s BJP’s rally is a showcase of their strength. With heavyweight TMC leader Suvendu Adhikari joining the BJP along with other TMC MLAs and MP and leaders from other parties.

Biswanath Chakraborty, senior political analysts, said, “This rally showcased TMC’s disintegration officially. And  BJP does want to portray that as they are dissatisfied with TMC’s internal feud they joined BJP. This will not only give an edge to BJP. To increase their ground but also will create a vacuum in TMC. However, in politics, the vacuum does not last long. And it will be soon be filled up.
