Kolkata 9 November: At a time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the people of the country to maintain peace and dispel all  negativity and dear post the Ayodhya verdict , West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh said that the verdict is the moral victory of BJP. The apex court today put an end to the centuries old title dispute at Ayodhya by ruling it in favour of the Hindus and compensating the Sunni Waqf Board with a five acre land to build a mosque. The verdict came after the court found inconsistencies in the documents of the Waqf board.

Ghosh also said that BJP has been leading the moment for a long time and if the issue has provided any political dividend it will definitely help BJP.

The statement has stirred controversy in various sections of the society. Netizens have said that Ghosh’s statement on this sensitive issue is very insensitive.

According to Ghosh , Trinamool Congress leaders abstained from making any comment after the verdict . Whenever there is an issue pertaining to national interest TMC goes silent or speak something which is against nation’s interest and security.

Ghosh urged the TMC leaders whether they should come out with a statement on whether they oppose it or support the verdict.

Sujan Chakraborty, CPI(M) leader, said: “ It’s very unfortunate that a senior BJP leader said that the Ayodhya verdict is the moral victory of BJP. He is trying to instigate communal tension between the Hindus and the Muslims at a time when everyone has urged people to remain calm and maintain peace.”

Ghosh welcomed the Supreme Court verdict as it was a long pending demand of the Hindus to establish Ram Mandir in the disputed site and finally Supreme Court ruled in favour of Ram Mandir.

Interestingly Trinamool Congress leaders abstained from making any comment after the Ayodhya verdict, but claimed Ghosh’s statement as irresponsible .

Tapas Roy,  Trinamool leader said “ I won’t comment anything on the Ayodhya verdict , but I condemn Ghosh’s statement as he is trying to instigate communal tensions.  “

The historic Ayodhya verdict

The Ayodhya case has spanned centuries, witnessing change of governments yet no conclusive decision was reached on the sensitive issue and the case was entangled in legal system. On Saturday, in a unanimous judgment, the Bench led by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi ruled in favour of the Hindus fighting the case and ordered that a temple be constructed at the disputed site and the Sunni Waqf board must be compensated with five acres of land at a prominent place in Ayodhy. The court also ordered the Central government to formulate a scheme within three months to implement this order.

A day before the verdict all the educational institutions in Uttar Pradesh were shut down and the prime minister asked the people to maintain peace.  Paramilitary forces have been deployed in Ayodhya and security has been beefed up in the entire country.
