KOLKATA 28 AUG: A day when ED summoned TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee and his wife Rujira Naroola, in their alleged connection with money laundering and coal scam, chief minister Mamata Banerjee today lashed out at the BJP, saying she also has enough proof of BJP leaders involved in the coal scam and send them to ED.
Banerjee added : “You have made somebody write something. We will give tit for tat. Till now we have not done anything here. I don’t do vindictive politics. You raise question on my family?”
Banerjee also questioned the Union government’s role in withdrawing the army before the Indians are evacuated from Afghanistan.
“How can the Union government withdraw the army before evacuating the Indians,” added Banerjee.
Slamming the BJP, Banerjee, while addressing the students of Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCCP), on their foundation day, said, ”When the BJP cannot compete with us in politics; they use agencies to threaten us.”
Banerjee said that they had seen how BJP leaders had become members of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and how they have submitted the report to the Court based on which the Court has ordered a CBI investigation in the post-poll violence.
“I do not have any problem with any agency investigating any case. I am in a chair where I look at everything impartially. Be it TMC members or any other party member. If anybody has been involved in post-poll violence, it has been charge-sheeted. But why BJP leaders did not send any impartial investigating agency to Uttar Pradesh or any other BJP-ruled states, where women are being tortured, and the law and order situation has deteriorated further,” said Banerjee.
She said that agency politics will have its after effect. She stressed the point that Opposition is being targeted through CBI and ED.
“You show me ED threats, I will send them a bag full of papers of all other cases to ED. Can they manage everything? I have never seen such vindictive politics in my entire life. I don’t have any problem with CBI but why do they take along BJP leaders where they go for the probe? Why can’t the BJP let them work impartially? Why send NHRC only in Bengal?”
Also, the CM pointed out that the prime minister has not even revealed how much funds had been received under the PM Cares Fund. “There should be an impartial investigation into the entire PM Cares Fund. But why PM is silent,” added Banerjee.
Moreover, the chief minister also said that she would call a conference of chief ministers to discuss the alleged attack on the federal structure.”
