A Border Security Force(BSF) Jawan Vijay Bhan Singh was killed and another peson was injured when Border Guard Bangladesh(BGB) soldier fired at them during a flag meeting at India- Bangladesh border in West Bengal. This is the first of its kind incident in a decade. Governor of West Bengal Jagdeep Dhankar appealed to Union Home Ministry for upgrading his secuirty cover to Z+ category . His secuity will be looked after by the CRPF. An order has been issued by the Union Home Ministry on this regard and the decision has been intimated to DG West Bengal. Previously the security of Governor is being lookd after by West Bengal government. Mithun Chakraborty former TMC MP has expressed his deisre to work with RSS. He met with the RSS leaders at Nagpur on Thursday. CBI arrests,senior IPS officer SMH Mirza in the Narada sting operation. He has been taken to Bankshall Court. CBI will appeal for five days CBI custody. The Narada sting operation showed the IPS officer and other Trinamool Congress leaders taking cash for favours. Union Minister Babul Supriyo heckled and roughed up by students of Jadavpur University , Kolkata when he went to attend a seminar organised by ABVP at the University. VC of Jadavpur University , Suranjan Das was also heckled by the students. After hearing that a mass scale agitation was going on at JU , Governor of West Bengal went inside JU and met with Supriyo amidst student slogan and shouting and esorted him to his car . It was an unprecdented incident as for the first time a Governor went inside the University campus and escort an Union minister from the hands of the students. However students did not allow Governor's car to go outside the campus. The students demanded that Supriyo should tender apology as he misbehaved with the students. On the other hand Supriyo said that students heckled him, but he did not misbehaved with them. The local Barasat court rejected the bail plea of former Commissioner of Police Rajeev Kumar and asked his lawyers to seek legal advice from the appropriate authority. Calcutta High Court rejects former commissioner of police Rajeev Kumar's plea seeking protection from CBI arrest. After the Court order, CBI officers went to Kumar's residence and also went to CID office but he was neither at his residence nor at his office . CBI has instrcuted that Kumar should be present at CBI office in Kolkata on Saturday within 10 am. Mamata Banerjee on Friday announced hike in salary in the sixth pay commission which will be effective from 1 Januaray 2020. He will be kept in a seperate cell as he was a prtoectee of under Z category. A day after BJP leader Arjun Singh was hurt at Barrackpore , BJP calls a 12 hour bandh at Barrackpore in protest against attack on Arjun Singh Governor Jagdeep Dhankar met with Arjun Singh at the hospital. He said "West Bengal needs peaceful atmosphere . It does not need violence." The ADG law and order of West Bengal Gyanwant Singh said that police has done a good job in controlling the mob. Controversy sparked of after Jawaharlal Nehru University administration asked historian Romila Thapar to submit his CV for assessment for continuation as Professor Emerita. 19.65 lakh people were left out from the updated National Register of Citizens(NRC) list that was published on 31 August 2019. Modi government has decided to merge 10 PSU banks into 4 banks. CBI grilled BJP leader Mukul Roy in connection with Narada graft case, summoned former Kolkata Mayor and minister Sovan Chatterjee, who joined BJP this month. CBI also sent notice to TMC MP Aparupa Poddar on Wednesday. Controversy erupted after an IPS officer of Western Range of West Bengal Rajeev Mishra was seen touching the feet of chief minister Mamata Banerjee in office uniform during her visit to Digha in East Midnapore for holding an administarive meeting. Former finance minister Arun Jaitley passed off on Saturday at AIIMS . He was 66 and was suffering from several ailments after kidney transplantation. Former finance minister P Chidambaram sent to CBI custody till 26 August. CBI arrests former finance minister P Chidambaram from his house. CBI will approach the district court on Thursday. After Delhi High court rejected his bail plea Chidambaram fled from his house. After 24 hours Chidambaram finally arrived at AICC headquarter and held a press conference and claimed that he was busy with the lawyers in preparing his court papers as Supreme Court has said that they will listen to his case on Friday . A team of 14 officers of CBI and ED rushed to AICC office after his press conference but could not arrest him at the AICC office. The CBI had already issued a look out notice against him .The officers rushed to his house at Jor Bagh . The officers scaled down the walls to enter his house. They arrested him and he is now being interrogated at the CBI headquarter in Lodhi Road.
