Cow has played a pivotal role in shaping saffron politics and various BJP leaders have classified cow in various ways, declaring it as ‘mother’. The leaders have also been subject to hilarious memes following their comments on cow and the latest to join the fray is Dilip Ghosh, BJP West Bengal president who went a step ahead in classifying the animal as Desi and Videshi. Ghosh said that the Indian breed of cows is mother while its foreign counterpart is aunty.
Addressing a public meeting at Burdwan on Monday night, Ghosh hit out at a section of intellectuals who eat beef and said that they might also consider eating dog meat.
In a hilarious remark, Ghosh said that Indian breed of cows contain gold in their milk and that the navel of cows produces gold when it comes in contact with sun-rays.
On the other hand , Ghosh said that foreign breed of cows are beasts.
“This foreign breeds are not gau mata but aunties and it is not desirable to worship aunties. It is also not right to worship our gods with the milk of foreign breeds, like Jersey cows,” the BJP leader added.
His statement has created an uproar of laughter and controversy with Opposition parties criticizing him for upholding an unscientific fact.
Sujan Chakraborty , CPI(M) leader said, “His statement is baseless as he has failed to uphold any scienfic reason to his statement. He is trying to mislead people.”
Subrata Mukherjee, Trinamool Congress leader, said “We are surprised to hear such a statement from a respectable person like Ghosh. I do not have any idea why he made such an unscientific statement .”
Experts are of the opinion that a survey was conducted by Junagadh Agricultural University(JAU), where they analysed urine of 450 Gir cows and they found they found traces of gold.
Professor I Sekhar principal and scientist of Indian Institute of Horticulture , Bangalore, said “ We have not yet conducted any survey on whether cow milk contains gold or not, but scientists of JAU conducted a survey where they analysed urine of 450 Gir cows and they found traces of gold.”
Dilip Ghosh led party in an embarrassing situation
In 2017, the Bengal BJP leader Dilip Ghosh asked party workers to beat policemen if they failed to take action against Trinamool Congress supporters. At a program in East Midnapore, he threatened a police officer that his family member will not be able to trace his body if he continued to threaten their party workers.
He also said that if “Chidmabaram(“baap ka baap”) can go to jail , then he has the power to put the senior police officer in jail custody too.
Various BJP leaders has come up with controversial statement on cows
On August 28, 2019, a BJP leader of Silchar, Assam said that cow produces more milk if they listen to the tunes of the flute . It is similar to the special tune which Lord Krishna used to play.
On October 20, Goa minister and BJP leader Michael Lobo said that stray cattle in Candolim and Calangute have become non-vegetarian in Goa and they are now eating stale raw fish, chicken scraps.
